Pros and cons

According to our heart rate sensor expert
  • With the built-in accelerometer, you can also measure your running movements for even more insight into your training.
  • Thanks to the ANT+ connection, you can connect the sensor to multiple devices at once, like your sports watch and cyclocomputer.
  • The heart rate sensor is encoded to ensure that the signal from sports buddies won't interfere with the signals of your heart rate monitor.
  • The heart rate sensor doesn't have Bluetooth, so it can't be connected to your phone.

Description

The Garmin HRM-Tri Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap Blue is made specifically for triathletes. The small and light design make the HRM-Tri a comfortable heart rate monitor that won't get in your way when you're running, swimming, and cycling. What makes the HRM-Tri special is its integrated accelerometer that's aimed at collecting different running data. The heart rate monitor not only measures your heart rate, but also your cadence, vertical movements of your upper body, and how long your feet are in contact with the ground while you're running. That means you can dive even deeper into your training data.

Note! Only a limited number of sports watches can register heart rate data while swimming, they are the Garmin Forerunner 920XT, Garmin Epix, and Garmin Fenix 3.

Buy if you are happy with changing one at every 5-6 months

    Ciprian Strejac Comm.V | 23 February 2021

    • Pros:
the accuaracy is quite good, I've test it against an optical HR and it was almost the same
    • Con:
the battery is not what the Gramin clamis, a lot less
    • Con:
I changed 4-5 of them in a few after 5-6 months it stops working

After long runs 30+km on my back I get a lot of marks.
The strap has a metal and in contact with the skin after a few hours your skin in that area is not happy
I had to change quite a lot of them because probably with the sweat is getting inside the electronics
