According to our mirrorless camera expert
The Panasonic LUMIX DC-G9 is a system camera for professional nature photographers. The camera has a 5-axis image stabilizer and 2-axis optimal image stabilization. That prevents camera vibrations when working with low shutter speeds. You can even shoot telephoto pictures in low light conditions. The 0,04-second autofocus means you can quickly switch focus point. The chosen focus point will be tracked by the camera, for instance a butterfly flying by. Never miss unique moments, thanks to the high frame rate of 60 fps with a fixed autofocus point and 20 fps for full autofocus. Your subjects will be visible on the OLED screen with a minimum delay of less than 0.005 seconds and at 120 fps.

I've had this camera for about a month now, which is actually too short for a final judgment. But I'll write down my impression so far.
Broadly speaking, the G9 meets my expectations. This is not a camera that you just buy. It's a bit of a niche product after all. For the sensor size (m4/3 is relatively small) the body is quite large. I use it with a large lens (Panasonic/Leica 100 - 400 mm) and with that it is a good combination. I used the same lens before with an Olympus EM1 mk1 body. It is slightly smaller than the G9. For good grip used the EM1 with a battery holder. The G9 is a better match and also works nicely without a battery holder. I use this lens/body combination for bird photography. And for that, after some adjustment, it is well suited. Flying birds also work, with the Olympus EE1 dot sight. (recommended). While I won't claim that this combination is light, it is quite possible to walk with it, while still having a fairly extreme telephoto reach. I hope that with this body (the G9) I can get a little more out of my 100 - 400 mm lens. Whether this is really the case remains difficult to determine. (If you want to see some of the results, google lake park birds for my blog.)
In short, a good product, if you know what you want with it. Requires quite a lot of setup to optimize for your application. (This is no different with other high-end cameras, by the way.) Not recommended for someone who wants to get acquainted with the m4/3 system.
