To start my review I must say that I am quite demanding; editing student who also takes color grade and sound design seriously.
Went for this model above the 2017 macbook pro because of the stability and keyboard complaints that many users expressed on the internet and the keyboard problems are now also recognized by apple itself. In addition, I often do backups, but I think it's a nice idea that in the biggest emergency the SSD can be removed.
The biggest weakness is the GPU, Intel Iris Pro with 1.5 GB VRAM is just a joke compared to a regular laptop in the same price range. I think that this laptop is only recommended by Coolblue itself for editing photos, which I think is a justified conclusion.
I myself edit short films with Premiere Pro and Avid MC, but I use ProResproxy (720p and 1080p) files and the cutting is very smooth. Coloring films in DaVinci Resolve is possible, but it is not optimal. For example, all tools work fine while editing a single frame, but viewing your grade in real time will not happen. However, the GPU is not too weak to work smoothly with an external display. Which is really a golden tip for finishing.
After working for a photographer for a longer time and having done all the finishing on 10bit Eizo screens, I was spoiled in that sense and I noticed that my first model was right. Coolblue gave me the opportunity to find a laptop that has very little trouble with this, the previous one not only had normal bleed but a color deviation (red discoloration) from an angle. I now have a model with a great screen that is certainly suitable for producing photos/videos in sRGB or Rec. 709 for web purposes. Gamut coverage, measured with an i1 Display Pro, coming close to 100% with color delta values (color precision) being good.
Another plus, the battery, which lasts a very long time. I use Google Chrome myself, but if you use Safari, it lasts noticeably longer. Around 7 hours of light use is certainly realistic!
Went for the 512 GB ssd myself, which is nice and fast (1.9 Gb/s read and 1.46 Gb/s write) and which makes loading/opening applications/macOS itself very fast. SSDs are quite known for giving systems a fresh spin and certainly in combination with the i7 7700HQ it ensures a super smooth running system.
macOS is the biggest reason I go for macs, once everything is set up the way you want you don't have to think about it anymore. Everything just looks beautiful, which has an influence and the whole experience is simply wonderful. Time machine is also just and super valuable feature.
Ports may be a bit older now, thunderbolt 2 is useful for using adapters that provide different display outputs than the HDMI port. Furthermore, just perfect, SD card reader is also just nice and fast. The thunderbolt 3 type c ports of the new Macbooks are great in theory, but I still have too many devices with regular USB cables.
Cooling with macs is such a thing, the laptop is nice and quiet but does run hot when you run heavy applications, it can keep up with the base clock of 2.2 GHz while exporting videos but gets really warm. However, I have also had a macbook pro 13 inch for 3.5 years that still runs smoothly, so I wouldn't worry too much about this.
The keyboard is very good and the trackpad simply the best out there. No more to say! The speakers are not the best but certainly not bad and get quite loud.
Bit of a long blurb but you just have to know what you're buying. I definitely recommend this laptop especially if you're working on photos or music production, for video/3D you just have to be aware of the fact that it is not the strongest hardware.
Would like to thank me at Coolblue for the more than good service and thus end this review.

Wonderfully fast MacBook Pro, use it for photography and video. I took this one, because I didn't feel like all kinds of dongles, adapters or hubs: clumsy and you're hundreds of euros further. Read in various reviews and benchmarks that the 2015 model is hardly inferior in speed to the 2016 and 2017 models with only USB-C ports. MacOS High Sierra runs like a charm on this Mac.
