I do like a bit of a "rugged" feel to my phone. Especially because I often use the phone on the motorcycle (in a RAM x-grip mount), I find it very pleasant if the case closes well around the phone, and also that the case is closed WELL when closed. With a nice layer of rubber over it, which is also non-Newtonian, making it harder on impact and so the blow is distributed over the rubber instead of what is behind it (the glass of your phone). That's the story at least :) But it feels like it's right.
The fact that your phone becomes one and a half times as thick is no problem for me, I think it feels nice, and it still fits perfectly in my jacket and trouser pockets (one of the few advantages of being overweight :) ). Both very minor issues for me and as far as I'm concerned it is an absolute must if you want a nice sturdy case with a cool look, a nice thick layer of rubber around it and a closure that closes really well.
