I hesitated for a long time between the Sony 55XF9005 and the newer Samsung 55RU8000.

I went for the Samsung because the Sony had a lot of noise in a dark image and the sharpness was disappointing for me. Plus the colors seemed unnatural. For the comparison and testing of all kinds of settings I used rtings.com, very handy!

Setting up is of course very easy, the remote control I still have to find out what the possibilities are. But it fits super in the hand, very nice without all those buttons that I don't use anyway.

I don't have a TV subscription, so only use the smart functions which all go very smoothly! The TV is connected to an Onkyo receiver. However, when I use apps like netflix or youtube, it can't send the sound via HDMI (ARC). After some googling, this appears to be due to the smart apps. However, connecting an optical cable solves everything easily (in addition, the sound of the TV is fine, but I mainly watch movies and then 5.1 set is the best of course).

The settings are easy to understand. I often change the settings to my own taste. But actually, the default image settings are perfectly fine in my opinion!

The TV is next to a large group of windows where the sun shines all day long. It's not super bright, but I'm happy with how the image looks (and you can make it all brighter with settings, but then, for example, green becomes a bit less natural and stuff). It also reflects some, but no more or less than my 10-year-old TV, I noticed it on day 1 because you're watching everything. Now I don't notice it anymore.

A really nice TV. If you, like me, have a lot of doubts, Sony was really my house brand and I found it very difficult to get rid of that. But this TV really performs top. Very sharp images, and amazingly beautiful natural colors! Plus, he's just really pretty :D
