According to our drone expert
Use your DJI Mavic 2 Pro to fly over natural landscapes, control it remotely, and instantly see what you're recording with the DJI Smart Controller. The remote has a 5-inch screen with a high maximum brightness. This will clearly show you what your drone's recording, even in brightly lit conditions. Using the controller's Go Share function, you can wirelessly send your recorded footage to your smartphone. Thanks to the large 1-inch sensor, you can capture detailed footage in 4K quality at 30fps. The drone features a hyperlapse mode, so it can move while it's recording. You can set the aperture yourself, so you can adjust the depth of field of your footage.
From 2021, new European drone legislation will apply. This means that drone pilots must register themselves if they own a drone that weighs more than 250 grams or has a camera. They'll receive an operating number that needs to be attached on your drone and clearly visible. This drone weighs more than 500 grams, so you need a basic drone course for this.

Maneuverability
Last year I decided to buy a drone, I went for a Mavic Air. After flying several times and being somewhat disappointed with the camera, I decided to upgrade and bought the Mavic 2 Pro. To this day I only regretted it when I had to eat dry bread for a week after purchasing it, but that was soon forgotten... What a gem! Unfortunately, I am not allowed to fly in my hometown, but the drone is standard in the car. I have already been able to explore the airspace of Hilversum, Vinkeveen and Utrecht.
As soon as you unpack it, you feel that you have a piece of quality in your hands. When extending the legs, the whole feels sturdy. Putting the Mavic Air together is a piece of cake and after a calibration and a firmware update, you can immediately take to the air. It is already noticeable when taking off that this drone does not make a lot of noise. Where the Mavic Air sounds like a swarm of angry bees, it makes a more 'serious' sound and you have the idea that you are hurling an imposing bird into the air.
Once in the air you shoot the most beautiful pictures. The DJI drones are also easy to control for the beginner, especially if you first start with the 'beginner mode'. The photos and 4K videos of this drone are breathtaking: a lot of detail and beautiful colors. The Hasselblad lens does its job well and the gimbal provides nice, stable shots. The distance is also more than perfect. The image remains very stable and easy to control, even if the drone is a kilometer away from you. If the drone does go out of range, it is able to fly back to the starting point on its own.
Are there no downsides? Of course they are, although these are not very disturbing and there are also advantages in return. For example, you have to click your phone into a controller if you want to view the images while you are in the air (indispensable for photo and videography). The disadvantage of this is that you are tinkering for a while before you can take to the air. The plus is that you do have a beautiful, high-quality screen on which it is displayed and you can also download the images directly to your phone. Unfortunately, the latter does not apply to RAW photo files, which is a shame since I also use Lightroom on my phone to be able to edit quickly.
All in all a wonderful device to make many fun trips with. I do advise you to go for the Fly More combo because you will need those extra batteries and accessories, nothing is more annoying than having to go home after about 25 minutes of net flight time to recharge.
Are you still in doubt? Just put it in your shopping cart, a week of dry bread is doable!

Very pleased with it, precisely because the quality of the camera more than meets expectations.

This is the perfect drone for an advanced photographer/drone enthusiast with plenty of safety features (almost impossible to crash) and camera settings. The price will be a few 100s too high for many, regardless of how dji products hold their value fairly well.
