Six years ago, I bought a Sony 55 A9G, Sony's top-of-the-line model at the time. It was one of the best OLED televisions available at the time, but what truly set it apart was its Acoustic Surface Audio technology. Instead of tinny sound, you heard clear, powerful audio.
Now I'm testing the Bravia 8 II, which delivers even better sound and a sharper, clearer picture. Although this TV's audio is excellent, I recently purchased a home theater quad because I missed the surround sound with movies. This new set, in combination with the Bravia, allows me to use the TV as a center speaker.
Using the TV as a center speaker really improves the sound. It enhances the sound, and speech, in particular, is much more intelligible. A slightly more difficult issue was that initially, I couldn't get any sound from the center speaker, even though the TV was recognized as the center speaker. Ultimately, it turned out that the cable for the center speaker had to be pushed firmly into the TV due to some resistance. After that, everything worked perfectly.
What I don't like about this TV is the remote control. It's smaller and doesn't have a backlight. Moreover, the configuration and guide buttons have been moved, which can be confusing at first.
In terms of value for money, I find the TV a bit expensive for the recommended retail price. The difference in picture quality, especially in brightness and color, is clear compared to my old OLED. However, the picture on my old set was still excellent. However, if that one were to break, I would probably choose the Bravia 8 II.
