Unboxing is an experience in itself. That's nicely done!
I tested the device for about two weeks.
iPhone: It works simply. Connect it, and your image "clones" onto the glasses. With the SpaceWalker app, you have a kind of VR experience, but it's all glued to your face (1DoF).
I watched series on it, which is okay because I watched it for the story. Tron: Legacy on Disney Plus via the SpaceWalker app, however, was a disappointment. It reminded me of the old LG monitor I bought 15 years ago for 15 euros on Marktplaats. Lots of ghosting, pixels, and blocks. Not great.
If you want 3DoF, according to the app, you have to order an adapter.
I did, but it later turned out that it doesn't support the Ultra. Viture hasn't made an adapter for that yet. So 3DoF on iPhone/iPad is not possible for now. The available adapters only allow you to charge simultaneously, including the XR adapter.
MacBook: I connected the glasses to my MacBook Pro. They automatically add a 1DoF display that's also glued to your face. With the SpaceWalker app, you can add up to three displays to your setup in various aspect ratios. However, you won't get more than 1200p, which essentially means it's a somewhat older monitor glued to your face. This is especially noticeable in text. Once you use 3DoF via the SpaceWalker app, you can also adjust the distance from your screen and move it a bit further away. However, this does result in text becoming very blocky. I tried it during long-term productivity work, and it works, but it's tiring.
PlayStation 5: You can connect a PlayStation, among other devices, via the Mobile Dock. It's a bit of a hassle with wires, but you can get used to it. The Mobile Dock for PS5 only supports 3DoF, but it works very well. Due to the overall drawbacks, I returned the device, but I'll miss using it on PlayStation the most.
After six days, the plastic on the legs started to crack on both sides, with one side almost completely breaking. You can "click" the legs into three positions for the optimal viewing experience. Even if you're very careful, these cracks occur quickly. I later saw this on Reddit; Luma monitors have this issue en masse. It's purely aesthetic, but I found it unacceptable for the price.
All in all, I'll miss it most for casually watching series, the news, and with the PS5. Unfortunately, the drawbacks didn't outweigh the benefits.
