I find the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 Pro an indispensable accessory for social media content. I can effortlessly make smooth videos in which I am always in the picture. However, I do find it a pity that I cannot use all the functions without the DJI Mimo app.
Smooth videos
The OM 7 Pro is very good at its most important function: stabilizing my video images. When I film with the gimbal, I see almost no vibrations in the video images. I like that when I walk through the city with it, for example. I prefer to film in PTF mode, so that the horizon of my image always remains straight. For more cinematic images I use a different mode, such as SpinShot. In this mode my camera rotates, which gives a special effect.
ActiveTrack
A new feature of the OM 7 Pro is the Multifunctional Module. This is a small accessory that I attach magnetically to the gimbal. The biggest advantage is that I use ActiveTrack without the DJI Mimo app. Handy, because I often make videos via the Instagram or TikTok app. When I raise my hand, the gimbal recognizes me and starts following me. To stop the tracking, I raise my hand again. The tracking function works well. Even if I walk out of the picture for a moment, it immediately follows me again as soon as I enter the picture. The Multifunctional Module also has a built-in light with which I add extra light to my videos. I choose from 4 modes and adjust the intensity of the light to my liking.
Renewed design
At the bottom of the gimbal are tripod legs that I can easily extend. I think this is a big improvement compared to its predecessor, the OM 6. This way I never have to take a separate tripod with me again. The legs feel sturdy, I am not afraid that the gimbal will just fall over. For group photos I extend the selfie stick, so that I can get even more in the picture. I think this makes the gimbal very versatile in use. On the side of the gimbal is a handy dial that I can use to zoom in and out during a recording. This is useful if I want to highlight something special up close. I do notice that this dial only works when I film via the Mimo app. This is not a problem for me, because I have an iPhone. On Samsung phones you have to download the Mimo app with an APK Installer app via the DJI website, which makes it more difficult to use all the functions of the gimbal.
