You have now established for yourself that you mainly mix, puree, grind and mix ingredients in the kitchen. Use the questions on this page to determine which other functionalities and features are important to you. In this way you end up with a hand blender that suits you best. Would you rather have immediate advice about which hand blender we recommend in different situations? Then view Coolblue's choice.

1. Do you process light or heavy ingredients?

The type of preparation indicates how much power or power you need to optimally process ingredients. In general: the higher the power, the more powerful the engine. In addition, a hand blender whose foot cannot be disconnected has a direct motor drive. This makes it more powerful than a hand blender where the foot can be disconnected. Low power is especially suitable for preparations that do not become heavy. Think of baby food, sauces and soups. A hand blender with average power is also suitable for ingredients that do not become heavy. In addition, you also use it for tougher products. For ingredients in a large volume and that have a denser mass, for example potatoes, vegetables and meat, it is best to use a hand blender with a high capacity.

  • <200 watts
  • 201 - 600
  • 601 - 800 watts

You use different speeds for the preparation of different ingredients. This way you process eggs at a different speed than whipped cream or a bit thicker batter. If you like to climb or lower gradually to a higher or lower speed, a hand mixer with multiple positions is suitable. There are also hand blenders with a stepless speed, where you keep the speed button pressed. For a higher or lower speed, press the button harder or softer. In this way you gradually work towards a higher or lower speed.

  • 1 - 2 positions
  • 3 - 10 positions
  • 11 - 20 positions
  • Stepless

2. What about the accessories?

Hand blenders for which you can disconnect the hand blender foot can be used with other accessories. Are you looking for a hand blender that comes with multiple accessories? Then select which accessories you want with the decision aid. Do you want a package as diverse as possible with which you can make many different preparations? Then it is best to choose a hand blender with a food processor.

3. With or without cord?

When you choose a cordless or a hand blender with cord, you ask yourself a number of things. Where in the kitchen will you use the hand blender a lot and is the power source easily accessible? Do you like having freedom of movement or do you prefer not to have to charge it every time? Below are some points to consider when considering a hand blender with or without a cord:

Cordless? Then pay attention:

  • that you recharge it after use, so that it is fully charged when you need it again.
  • that it can run out in the middle of a preparation, especially if you use it for long periods of time.
  • how you charge the mixer and whether the charger is possibly included.

With cord? Then pay attention:

  • that you can easily reach the power source.
  • how long the cord is.
  • whether it is a straight cord or a flexible spiral cord. The latter is not easily in the way.
  • whether there is a storage option or not.

4. Hand wash or dishwasher?

Mixing food can sometimes be a big job. It is therefore nice if the cleaning is not. The handle of the hand blender is of course not washable because it contains the wiring and electronics. Therefore, wipe it well with a cloth after use.

In addition, you can pay attention to whether the individual parts that you use during mixing can be put in the dishwasher or washed by hand. Stainless steel parts can often do this. Consider if you have blender mixer parts made of plastic, check whether they are also dishwasher safe or if you can only wash them by hand.
