I come from a Canon 40D. I wasn't necessarily looking for a full-frame camera, as I already had some lenses specifically for APS-C sensors. But because Canon has apparently decided that the 7D series and the XXD series should mainly focus on video possibilities, speed (fps) and autofocus, I decided to jump to the 6D because of the extremely good ISO performance. Disadvantages are few focus points (but I shoot 98% of the time with the center focus point and focus and recompose) and low fps (but I hardly ever shoot action). For me, the ISO performance is the deciding factor: up to ISO 6400 you see very little noise, ISO 12800 is acceptable and ISO 25600 is doable. Above that it becomes a bit much, but in practice this all means that you can take portraits indoors without flash in fairly dark conditions with a large aperture (say f/2.8 or larger) and/or an IS lens. I often use it with a Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC (=IS) and there's nothing I can't handle indoors unless it's pitch black. The ISO sensitivity at high values is even slightly better than that of the 5D Mark III, according to tests. In addition, the 6D has a super-sensitive center focus point that focuses razor-sharp even with very little light. The perfect camera for me. Oh yes, it doesn't have a built-in flash, but if you buy such a good camera and still want to flash you just have to buy a good external flash, then a built-in flash is a big bummer.

We can easily agree on this device. It's a good device that does what it's supposed to do. Software/firmware moderately responds to the device and it has all kinds of setting options that were not available on such mid-range devices a few years ago.

The image quality This one is fantastic. I use images up to a maximum of 8000 iso in RAW. The images that the device makes are pure with little noise and already has a good automatic white balance. I also have a 5d mark III and in my opinion the 6d is just a bit better in dark conditions. Especially in terms of focus (I'll come back to this later). At the low ISO values there is virtually nothing to see from noise up to and including ISO 400. After that it is possible to nitpick up to and including 800 to 1200 ISO. At 1600, noise is visible in dark areas if you adjust it with a stop exposure, but with a little noise suppression or for web format nothing of suppression, there is very little to nothing of the noise level up to and including 3200 to 6400. The sharpness in combination with good quality lenses is certainly fine. The HDR mode is a nice addition, just a pity that it is only usable in jpeg and not in RAW.

Layout / construction device I recommend purchasing a battery grip with the device. Without this it is less practical to work with an SLR, but this is of course my opinion. You quickly get used to the buttons and design of the dail. Certainly nothing to complain about. Just a pity that there is no 'joystick' on the device as with the 5d and 7d. Also a pity that there is only 1 slot for 1 SDHC card. The device certainly feels sturdy, but I wouldn't walk in the rain with it. It can take a good punch!

AF The center AF point is a dream for me as a nightlife photographer due to its high sensitivity in darker conditions. All the rest of the AF points are certainly good enough in daylight, but as it gets darker or there is fast action, they are a lot less usable. If you want better, you better look at a 7D or the 70D.
