According to our keyboard expert
The Razer Ornata Chroma is a colorful gaming keyboard developed for gamers looking for the sensitivity of mechanical keys without the noise. The Ornata Chroma is equipped with semi-mechanical keys: the mechanical switch is fixed to a membrane. This provides you with keys that are more responsive than those on a membrane keyboard, without having to pay a fortune. The keys are half as low as the standard size, which means they require less pressure and allow you to respond faster. Adjust the keyboard lighting to your taste. You can select one of the breathing patterns or illuminate particular keys for particular games: the Razer Synapse 2.0 software provides you with 16.8 million colors to choose from. It comes with an ergonomic wrist rest to prevent RSI, so you can play comfortably for hours on end.

I bought the Razer Ornata Chroma because I was looking for an alternative to Membrane Switches. I'm personally not a big fan of the loud clicking noise of fully mechanical keyboards, so I decided to give the semi-mechanical keys a shot. What I first noticed was that the keys are indeed a lot less loud, still a clear click but absolutely not disturbing. So my first impression was good. In addition, the keyboard also just looks good, as you are used to from Razer. All keys are individually illuminated, and with the software you can adjust this exposure as desired. You can't think of it that crazy or there is a lighting mode for it, otherwise you might as well put it together yourself. The software is good, but certainly not for the Mac. I use both operating systems on a daily basis, and it was a must for me that the software works well on both systems. On the mac, a number of functions simply do not work, such as quickly switching profiles with the fn + number key. That was a pity. The keyboard feels sturdy, and probably won't wear out quickly. The supplied palm rest is very nice and feels good, very nice that it is included for free! I've had the keyboard for 2 weeks now. At that time I started to notice that certain keys click less than others, and also the difference whether the key is struck at the top or bottom. At first I didn't think this was a real problem, but it started to stand out to me more and more. Now when I compare the keys I use often (just the letters I type a lot with) with keys I don't use often (function keys, for example) there is a clear difference to be felt and heard. The keys I've used often are a lot softer and easier to hit. I don't expect this kind of wear after 14 days. Please note that I bought the product as a 'second chance'. In addition, it is noticeable that the coating of the keys absorbs grease and dirt very easily. Some keys are already quite grubby, while I always use the keyboard with fairly clean hands. It is also a pity that the cord cannot be disconnected, this cord is of good quality, but if it breaks you can no longer use your entire keyboard. Still a pity. Overall a good keyboard, but it doesn't perform satisfactorily. So I'm going to return the keyboard and go back to membrane anyway.

I think it's a very nice keyboard because it types well and is beautiful because of the lights. And I really like playing it.

Highly recommended if you want to buy a mechanical keyboard that you don't want to spend a cent on. Very fine and light keystroke. You will have to get used to the sound in the beginning, but when you use the keyboard a little longer, you will only appreciate the feedback. The biggest plus in my opinion is that there is not only a gutter at the top, but also on the two sides, so that you can let the cable (which is surrounded by very nice textiles) well.
