According to our television expert
With the Sony KD-49XE9005, you'll enjoy clear and smooth image reproduction. This 4K TV has a 100Hz refresh rate, so there's no screen lag during rapid movement. That's a plus if you enjoy playing games or watching sports or action movies. The 10-bit panel makes the TV suitable for displaying HDR videos. The broad color range and high contrast make images look extra realistic. Connect the TV to the internet and you'll get access to games, apps, or websites. A remote control with voice control is included. This makes it easy for you to switch between all your types of entertainment.

I've had the Sony BRAVIA KD-49XE9005 for a week now and what a fantastic television this is!
The reason I went for this television, in addition to the rave reviews, is the fact that the television - as one of the few in this price range - has Full-array Local Dimming (FALD) i.c.m. a 10-bit panel. This is especially important to properly display UHD (4K) HDR content without losing image quality. HDR on an 8-bit panel is no more than a gimmick, only on televisions like this it really comes into its own because of. the contrast and black values, brightness and the color range (10-bit = 1 billion colors!). Believe me when I say that this TV can compete with Samsung's QLED line (in the equal segment).
My advice is to go through and adjust the picture settings of the television with the help of online manuals. In particular, the manuals/tutorials from AVForum and RTINGS have helped me a lot to calibrate the image optimally; just using one setting for all your image is not enough. Now I have a separate mode for 'standard' TV (digital via decoder), streaming (Netflix/Amazon), (UHD/HDR) Blu-Ray and (HDR-)gaming (for eg low input lag). It may take you a few evenings to fine-tune everything, but the result is truly breathtakingly beautiful!
The television also features AndroidTV (OS), which is very useful when streaming content to your TV via Google Home (Chromecast). However, I also experience the use of AndroidTV as a drawback, because the OS is not very fast and responsive, like Tizen from Samsung is.
The sound from the television is acceptable. For movies I recommend to use the TV in combination with. a soundbar, because by default the sound has the necessary 'Oomph!' and lacks power. Here the TV is connected to a Sonos Surround installation via an optical cable, which is just great!
I am not very happy with the remote control. It is a pity that such an ugly remote control has been designed with a television with this eye-catching design. The thing is big, unwieldy and I find the Netflix and Google Play buttons an eyesore. In addition, the remote control is not very 'smart' compared to the TV, so operating peripherals have limitations (despite Sony BRAVIA Sync).
In summary, this television is a high flyer in its segment and definitely worth considering if you want to make the switch to 4K HDR!

What a great TV. The image is really beautiful. Had a plasma so was spoiled with realistic colors and black levels. Actually wanted an OLED, but it was not in the size I wanted. After some research ended up with this Sony. I've had it for 2 days now and don't regret it for a second. Images seem to come out of the TV (despite it not being 3D :-)) and even the black is just really black. The brightness is also very good. Don't think OLED can top this image. Also no bleeding like you have with edge member TVs. I was skeptical, but I'm completely over it. This is really recommended! The installation was a bit tricky as it couldn't connect to the internet and it seemed to hang, but was finally able to continue.

Bought a lot of televisions in recent months and returned them to Coolblue. (sorry CB). I am quite critical and could not come to a satisfactory purchase. This is also partly due to my budget (maximum 1000.00) and the maximum size of 49 inches, which means that OLED is no longer an option.
After once again having looked at the second chances, I saw this Sony pass by at once. Normally **** euros but now for 918.00 euros! This is because the stand had considerable scratches. This was not a problem for me because it was going to be mounted on the wall anyway. So for me a great deals. Immediately clicked the order button!
Received the Sony the next day, always waiting for a second chance, but also this time received in good condition. Immediately hung up the TV and started setting it up.
After starting and making some choices, the TV ran very sluggish, Netflix also crashed and the menus only appeared after a few seconds of waiting. Apparently he was busy in the background with a few things because after fifteen minutes this was already a lot better... but still an Android feature.
If you want good settings, Google this type XE9005 and the site RTings or AVForum. The TV has been thoroughly tested on these sites and found to be very good. They also have exactly the right settings for you.
And once you have everything set up correctly, enjoy!!! Even really enjoy it. The colors are fantastic and movements can handle them well. The black levels are also top notch.
The TV has a major drawback, and also a significant drawback for many living rooms, and that is the viewing angle. If you look at the TV at more than 20 degrees of viewing angle, the colors will already be less. So only purchase this TV if you are sitting right in front of it, otherwise it will be a disappointment.
Summarizing through personal experience and reviews on reliable sites, this is the best LED TV of the moment. Above that, the OLED televisions start, but then a 49-inch also falls off and it starts with the 55-inch ones. So the best 49 inch at the moment is this Sony XE9005.
