According to our smartwatch expert
Thanks to the integrated heart rate sensor of the Fossil Sport Gen 4S FTW4019, you'll be kept up to date about your heart rate 24 hours per day. In addition, the Sport Gen 4S measures your steps, distance, calories burned, speed, and more. This allows you to accurately track your cycling and running performance, for example. If you rest after a long day, this smartwatch will continue to work by measuring the duration of your sleep and your sleep quality. You can connect the Fossil watch to your smartphone to receive notifications and calls on your wrist. The removable silicone strap is comfortable to wear during exercise. In addition, the watch strap is resistant to perspiration and easy to keep clean.
Note: an adapter isn't included. Do you want to charge the watch via a socket? If so, order an adapter separately.

I've had my Fossil for a few weeks now and I've run 10km on it several times and I'm quite excited, except for a few improvements... Let me start with the pros of this watch;
Cons;
As a runner, I would like to be able to post my results on Strava. This was achieved by installing the Strava app on the device. This way everything is neatly tracked and after the workout it is neatly uploaded to Strava. The disadvantage, however, is that the Strava app can only show one data field (possibly supplemented with the elapsed time). This does not meet my needs because I would like to see 4 data fields while running (time, speed, distance and heart rate). With the Google Fit app (which is standard on this Fossil) you CAN make these fields visible. That solved it, you might say.... The disadvantage of the Google Fit app is that the data is not synced to Strava. This is not something that Fossil can do anything about, but it would influence my choice when considering which sports watch I would like to purchase. But apart from the above issue (which can possibly be solved with a software update), it is a great watch that looks very nice and has sufficient options and apps. What is also new with this watch (compared to the previous generation) is that you can leave the screen "always on", and with some dials the second hand continues to run. This looks just a bit more "Premium". If your watch is almost empty, it is new with this version that the time remains visible for a few days. All other features are then disabled, but you can still see the time.
In summary: A fun and beautiful sports watch that competes at the top with some updates. I recommend him!

Have owned the Smartwatch for a while now. I've had some 'borrowed' for this, but I can really test this one.
Connecting to your phone couldn't be easier and is therefore done in no time. The watch looks timeless without too many bells and whistles. He would have liked a little bigger for me, but that's personal. First charge before we get started. The wireless charging happened fairly quickly. I also find it useful that you do not have to place the watch exactly on a certain point of the charging system. Just a little more user-friendly. Now the real testing can begin. The Wear OS operating system took a little getting used to for me. Have been using it for a while now and eventually everything gets used to it, of course, but I've had more user-friendly systems in use. I wouldn't consider an update of Wear OS a superfluous luxury. I myself notice that there is now and then a small hick-up with the touchscreen when touching the screen. The screen and resolution looks good and clear. Everything is clear to read and colors look good. The rotating crown to navigate through Wear OS just looks good and runs smoothly. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think there is a 'sleep tracker' available!
What I was particularly curious about were the sports functionality of the watch. The move minutes and heart points on the home screen look nice. During my office job I can quickly see when it's time to go to the coffee machine again to get my exercise minutes :) The weekly overview of your heart points is nice to see which days you perform better than other days. For sports I have mainly used it for cardio and strength training, although there are countless options that you can select in terms of training. It does what it has to do and clearly shows how long you are busy and your bpm. As far as strength training is concerned, I think this is quite difficult to measure exercises accurately. But I think this applies to all smartwatches.
After some knowing, my smartwatch has been 'frozen' 1x for 2 days. The system hung and couldn't do anything except wait for the battery to run out! After it was charged again, it works again, but as said, Wear OS could use an update.

After I got it in I wore it almost nonstop. The first thing that struck me is the cheap-looking strap, which I think is a shame for such a product. Fine for daily use, but it's a fossil sport so I had to get to work and compare it with my current sport watch. In terms of stand-alone GPS and heart rate monitor, it works fine (better than the GPS of my mobile) but it really eats battery, which I also think is a shame because with a little exercise (running for an hour?) it is true to charge 2 to 3 times a day. you have to think about sports again, especially if you already use it during the day. In terms of apps, I still have to find that I have some more functions because only the time, distance and heart rate I miss something of interval functions. But all in all a nice and handy watch. After a few weeks I notice that the screen occasionally reacts badly to my finger movements and it occasionally just goes back to standby while I'm working on it. Also turning with my wrist works moderately and especially with running this is super annoying. Always turning on the screen then only works for short distances, otherwise the battery will run out too quickly. For daily use, it works fine, quickly check who is calling or what is in my app, it is super handy.
