The Galaxy Watch 8 is a stylish smartwatch with a minimalist design. Thanks to its extensive sleep features, I get tips to improve my sleep, and the running coach helps me improve my fitness. Unfortunately, the watch doesn't last long, with a battery life of 1 to 2 days.
Lightweight and minimalist
The watch is light and barely noticeable on my wrist. The case is thinner than its predecessor, making it a better fit. For this review, I'm wearing the 44-millimeter version. My wrist circumference is 17 centimeters, and the watch fits comfortably.
Easy-to-read screen
The screen is much brighter than that of its predecessor, the Watch 7. Even outdoors in bright sunlight, everything is clearly visible. The colors are vibrant and the image is sharp. The screen responds quickly, and I don't experience any delays when scrolling or switching between apps.
Aware of my sleep routine
This watch gives me a lot of insight into my sleep. For example, I know exactly which sleep phase I'm in. The watch combines all my sleep data and also provides advice. In the evening, for example, I get a notification with my ideal bedtime. I have to wear the watch while sleeping for seven days before I get more insight. This feature makes me more aware of my sleep routine.
Personalized running schedule and coaching
I've just started running, so a little guidance is helpful. Before I receive a schedule, I have to complete a 12-minute test. Based on that test, I get a personalized training plan. Sometimes it's an interval workout, sometimes a long run. The different workouts make running more enjoyable. After each workout, I get a detailed overview of my performance, which is motivating.
Voice commands with Gemini
I have access to Gemini through the watch, and it works very smoothly. I only have to ask a question, and I get an answer within seconds. I also use it to respond to incoming messages. I just have to say what I want to say and Gemini gives me a suggestion.
