Compare electric and cordless lawn mowers
User-friendliness
Electric: work without interruption
An electric lawn mower works on the power grid. This means that the lawn mower is tied to a power cord. The advantage is that you can work without having to charge in between. Keep in mind that you need an extension cord for more freedom of movement. And make sure you don't mow over the power cord with the electric lawn mower.
Cordless: cordless mowing
With a cordless lawn mower, you can work without a cord. This way, you can reach the end of your garden without struggling with extension cords. Depending on the battery capacity, you may need to take a break to recharge the battery. So make sure you always have an extra battery on hand. That way, you can continue working for longer. Most cordless lawn mowers are part of a battery platform. This allows you to switch batteries with other (garden) tools from the same battery platform.
Maintenance
Electric: easy maintenance
Electric lawn mowers don't need much maintenance. Just like other lawn mowers, it's useful to sharpen the blades on a regular basis. Do this once they're blunt. You should replace the blades if they have large holes or dents in them.
Cordless: little maintenance
Cordless lawn mowers also don't need much maintenance. The maintenance is similar to that of an electric lawn mower. It's important to store the battery in the right spot. Batteries don't like heat and temperatures below zero. That's why it's better to store the battery in a dry spot and at room temperature.
