Image quality
Sony A6700: 4K at 60 fps
All 3 cameras have a large APS-C image sensor. With the A6700, you can record in 4K resolution at 60 fps. This results in very smooth images. You can slow them down 2 times for sharp slow motion videos. The camera makes 4K recordings from oversampled 6K images. It uses extra pixels to create a sharper 4K image. This allows you to make videos in the highest image quality with this camera.
Sony A6600: 4K at 30 fps
You can also record in 4K resolution at up to 30 fps with the A6600. The camera crops a little bit of the image, which makes your frame smaller. This means that you make a cropped recording. You can record at 24 or 25 fps without it being cropped. The A6600 also oversamples 6K images, resulting in razor-sharp recordings.
Sony A6400: 4K at 30 fps
The image quality of the Sony A6400 is the same as that of the A6600. Both cameras photograph with 24 megapixels and record in 4K resolution at up to 30 fps. The A6400 doesn't have built-in image stabilization (IBIS). This makes your images look less smooth. The A6700 and A6600 do have image stabilization, which produces stable video images.
Autofocus
Sony A6700: 759 autofocus points
The autofocus system of the new Sony A6700 has been improved. The camera focuses quickly and accurately with 759 autofocus points that cover 93% of the image. This also makes it easy to focus on subjects close to the edge of the image. The subject recognition of the A6700 also detects more subjects, such as people, birds, insects, and vehicles. It focuses effortlessly on small subjects or in dark conditions.
Sony A6600: 425 autofocus points
The A6600 focuses with 425 autofocus points that cover 84% of the image. As a result, it doesn't always detect subjects on the edge of your frame. It focuses on the center of the image easily. Thanks to the eye recognition, you can easily focus on people and most animals. This camera doesn't detect vehicles or birds. If you want to photograph those, you have to look for a focus point yourself.
Sony A6400: 425 autofocus points
All 3 cameras use the Sony 4D autofocus system. The camera focuses based on the dimensions and predicted movements of your subjects. This ensures very a accurate autofocus, even when recording. Just like the A6600, the A6400 has 425 focus points. They cover 84% of the image. The autofocus system detects both people and animals.
Design
Sony A6700: aperture dial
The aperture dial on the front of the camera allows you to easily adjust the aperture while you're taking photos. This is useful when lighting conditions change, when it is cloudy, for example. When you look through the electronic viewfinder, you can see right away whether the exposure of your photo is right. You can unfold the screen of the A6700 completely, which makes it easy to record yourself. This allows you to make vlogs or take selfies.
Sony A6600: no aperture dial
The A6600 doesn't have an aperture dial. So you can adjust the aperture via the buttons on the back or via the touchscreen. This camera doesn't have a screen that you can completely unfold. The screen can be tilted forward. This makes it easy to take photos from difficult angles. For example, close to the ground.
Sony A6400: no aperture dial
The A6400 doesn't have an aperture dial either. You can only tilt the screen of this camera forward, just like the screen of the A6600. The A6400 is the only one of the 3 cameras that has a built-in flash. This allows you to easily add extra lighting to your photo. Take photos of your friends at a party, for example.
