For me, durability and quality are the most important points when it comes to household appliances. I was therefore very disappointed that I had to throw away my AEG 7000 series washing machine after 2.5 years due to irreparable defective bearings. The machine may have been economical, but on balance it is the most inefficient, environmentally harmful and most expensive appliance I have ever owned. The tests by organisations such as the consumer association are actually completely worthless. What does it matter if you can save a litre of water and a kilowatt here and there if you can throw away the entire machine after a few years. And all those gadgets may seem nice, but hardly anyone uses them. In fact, only durability tests and repairability should be leading when purchasing household appliances. I will be the first buyer of a washing machine that will last another 20 years. In the meantime, I have to make do with this Bosch that will hopefully last more than 5 years.
