Which fridge fits in my home?
Step 1: determine where the refrigerator will be placed
The most important thing for determining the size of the refrigerator is where it will be placed. If you have a smaller space between the kitchen sink and the wall, for example, an American refrigerator will not fit.
Step 2: measure the width
Measure the width of the place where the refrigerator will be placed. Do you have a laminate or wooden floor? Then take the baseboard into account and do not measure it. The refrigerator must be level and when it is on a baseboard this is not the case. Also take into account a possible slanted wall.
Step 3: measure the height
Measure the height of the place where the refrigerator will be placed. When nothing is hanging above the fridge, you decide which height you like. Does the refrigerator come under a kitchen cupboard? Keep a little space for safety, so you can easily place the refrigerator under it.
Step 4: measure the depth
The best thing is when the refrigerator is as deep as the counter. Measure again in front of the baseboard to the front of the counter. Make sure you keep the tape measure tight to prevent a wrong size.
Step 5: keep some space
As was stated earlier when measuring the height: keep some space. This actually applies to all sides of the refrigerator. Also at the back it is important that there is some space left. Here is the ventilation and for the refrigerator to work properly, this air must be able to flow through. The distance recommended at the rear is between 5 and 10 centimeters.
Step 6: make sure that the door can turn freely
It may not be something that you think of right when measuring, but take into account the opening of the door. There is nothing more annoying than after finding the refrigerator to find out that the door bumps into the kitchen island. Whether you have enough environmental space is easy to calculate. The depth with the door open is the depth of the refrigerator + the width.
Step 7: walk the path from the front door to the kitchen
It is not only important that the refrigerator fits into the kitchen, but also that it can be delivered. Does the refrigerator fit through your front door? If the refrigerator is not placed on the ground floor, we also recommend that you measure the stairwell. This way you prevent surprises during the delivery.
