I wanted a laptop that I could easily carry on my lap or take with me somewhere else, but still be good enough for gaming. This ROG Zephyrus G14 is exactly what I was looking for.
What I thought was important is that it was easy to carry, and that is certainly the case with this one. Not only is it a bit smaller than most gaming laptops, but it's also quite thin and light at +- 1.6kg. Before this I had a Lenovo Legion, which was certainly a good kilogram heavier. Thanks to this size, having the laptop on your lap or taking it somewhere else is a breeze.
The gaming is also very good. The combination of an AMD Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM and an RTX3050 GPU, along with a 120hz screen makes gaming easy. In heavier games on higher graphics it can make noise, which actually makes sense. The laptop is thin and good cooling is always a thing in laptops. In general, this laptop can hold up quite well. (To return to my previous point: gaming on your lap is not recommended with any laptop!)
Then there are the small useful functions: keyboard lighting is extremely useful when you are working or gaming in the dark. Logging in with your account also goes very quickly after you have registered your fingerprint on the on button. Not only if you take the laptop out of sleep mode, but also if you have the laptop completely turned off and press the on button, the laptop logs in immediately without having your finger scanned again. It all sounds like a solution to a luxury problem, but let's be honest: for what you pay for this, it can of course also be luxury.
There are really no negatives as far as I'm concerned. Of course you do miss a numerical keyboard on the right side of your keyboard, but this is more than logical with a 14-inch laptop. This was not necessary for me. And of course, as I mentioned earlier, the laptop can make quite a noise if you run heavier games or other programs on it. But this is also something other laptops are rarely better at. If you really want to be able to play heavy games, I recommend a desktop with better cooling.
Conclusion: if you're looking for a handy yet fast and powerful laptop (for both gaming and other "daily tasks"), then this is definitely recommended!
