I am very critical when it comes to electronics. A few months ago I was looking for a new laptop. It had to have a metal housing and the display had to not be easily twisted (which is often the case with current generations). Furthermore, it had to have a fast processor (preferably Ryzen 7 with zen 3 architecture because I've read a lot about it), a good bright screen for working outside and be compact because I travel a lot. This search for what, in my view, is a normal expectation was more difficult than expected. With many laptops I noticed the battery life, the plastic housings, the weight and the brightness/color reproduction of the display, which was often disappointing. I found everything I was looking for with this one. It is very sturdy, the battery lasts a long time, it is fast and the display is excellent. In short, an all-rounder, just not suitable for games (I'm not a gamer so that wasn't a priority).

A very complete laptop for this price! All metal, 16:10 1600px screen, very fast and great sound.

Lenovo's IdeaPad 5 Pro lineup promises to be a success. Metal housings, fantastic screens and fast + economical AMD chips. My experience was unfortunately a bit less: To start with the pros: + Speed. My model has an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H chip that can handle everything from office work to photo and video editing with ease. Gaming is even possible on these beasts if you buy the model with a fast Nvidia GPU. The laptop contains 2 fans that keep the internals cool. In addition to the speed, the chip is also very efficient, so the laptop lasts a long time. + Housing. The laptop is made of metal and therefore has no flex. The keyboard therefore does not dent while typing. So you can safely take this laptop with you. + Screen. This screen is fantastic. 16", nice and big. 16:10 aspect ratio, more vertical workspace. 100% sRGB colours, good enough for some light photo editing and generally a nice viewing experience. The laptop is available with a 120Hz panel that is nice and smooth (to gaming or simply enjoying it with all the animations/scrolling on the screen). Then the negatives: - Crashes. I think you are familiar with the blue screens of Windows 10. In my case I had to deal with black screens, because this is what they look like now in Windows 11. Your screen goes black, the familiar ':(' pops up and the error message is displayed. The crashes happened at different times, I know so not what triggered these, hopefully it's a Windows 11 teething problem and will be fixed soon. - Hibernate/Sleep mode. When my laptop was in sleep or sleep mode, it sometimes wouldn't turn on. The light on the power button blinked slowly; indicating that it was in standby. Only the laptop would not turn on. Not with a trackpad or mouse click, press the power button or a key. Bad luck, all your open work is now gone. Press and hold the power button for 7 seconds and restart the computer completely. - Network card. My connection on this laptop was not great. A network card with Wi-Fi 6 support and a fast Wi-Fi network should be able to easily load a 4K video. This was often not the case. This was due to the laptop, because all other devices on the network can do it. The speeds were therefore low, and the connection was also not good. I was standing next to the router and only had 2 lines. Conclusion: All the negatives I mentioned can (I think) be remedied with software updates. Once these updates are implemented you will have a fast, robust, efficient and well-priced laptop (considering the hardware you get!). Unfortunately my negatives were reason enough for me to return it as I really need a working computer.
