Get started with the Melitta Barista T Smart
Before you can start making all sorts of coffees with your new machine, you have to make it ready for use in 3 steps. We'll go through these steps with you:
- Step 1. Connect the machine
- Step 2. Set the water hardness
- Step 3. Connect the milk system
You need:
- Water hardness test strip
- Cup of at least 100ml
Step 1: connect the coffee machine
- Insert the plug in the socket.
- Place a cup below the coffee spout.
- Turn on the coffee machine via the button on the side.
- The button that says 'menu/ok' starts to blink. Press this button.
- Select the right language via the arrow buttons. Confirm it with the 'menu/ok' button.
- Set the time with the arrow buttons and confirm it with 'menu/ok'.
Step 2: adjust the water hardness
- Set the water hardness by choosing very hard, hard, average, and soft.
- Hold the water hardness test strip under the running faucet and check the result after 1 minute.
- Set the right water hardness with the arrow buttons and confirm your choice with 'menu/ok'.
- Remove the water tank from the coffee machine.
- Fill it to the 'max' marking and put the water tank back into the machine.
- The machine starts dispersing hot water right away.
Step 3: connect the milk system
- Fill the bean hopper with coffee beans.
- Connect the milk system by inserting the milk hose into the milk reservoir and the machine.
- Remove the cup.
- Your coffee machine is now ready for use.
How often should you clean your Melitta coffee machine?
If you clean your Melitta coffee machine on time, you'll prevent blockages and defects. In addition, the coffee taste will remain at its best. Use your coffee machine hygienically and perform the following maintenance:
- Clean milk system: daily
- Rinse brew group: weekly
- Replace water filter: every 2 months
- Descale: every 3 months
