How do you make your Siemens EQ6 ready for use?
You want to enjoy a cup of coffee from your Siemens EQ.6 as soon as possible, of course. Before you get started with your coffee machine, you have to get it ready for use. In this article, we'll explain step by step how to set up the machine and what you have to do before the first use.

We'll explain step by step how you can get your Siemens EQ.6 ready for use. We'll go through the following steps:
- Step 1. Connect the coffee machine.
- Step 2. Select the right language.
- Step 3. Set the water hardness.
- Step 4. Set the water filter.
- Step 5. Rinse the machine.
You need:
- A container with at least a 500ml capacity
- Coffee beans
- A water hardness test strip
- A water filter
Step 1: connect the coffee machine
- Remove the protective foil.
- Plug the connector into the socket.
- Remove the water tank from the machine and rinse it.
- Place the water tank back into the machine and close the lid.
- Fill the bean hopper with coffee beans.
Step 2: select the right language
- Turn on the coffee machine with the power switch.
- Select the desired language by tapping the arrow and confirm with the 'Start/stop' button.
- Place a container under the spout.
- The machine will heat up and rinse after that.
Step 3: set the water hardness
- Take the test strip out of the packaging and briefly dip it in a glass of water.
- Wait 1 minute.
- After 1 minute, you can read the result. The number of red squares indicate the water hardness.
- Press 'Menu' and use the arrow buttons to navigate to 'Water hardness'.
- Press 'Ok' to confirm.
- With the arrow buttons, select the right water hardness.
- Press 'Ok' to confirm.
Step 4: set the water filter
- Take the water filter out of the packaging and dip it in a container with water.
- Squeeze the water filter until no more bubbles are coming out.
- Take the water tank out of the machine and empty it.
- Place the water filter in the empty water tank by pushing it with the measuring scoop.
- Fill the water tank with water up to 'Max' and place the water filter back into the coffee machine.
- Attach the milk tube to the milk system and suction pipe.
- Put the suction pipe in the drip tray and place the tube in the side of the coffee spout.
- Press 'Menu' on the display and navigate to 'Water filter' with the arrow buttons.
- Confirm with 'Ok'.
- Then, select 'Activate new filter' and press 'Ok'.
Step 5: rinse the machine
- Take the milk tube out of the drip tray and remove it.
- Empty the drip tray and place it back.
- Put the milk tube back in the drip tray.
- The coffee machine is now being rinsed. The water goes through the milk tube.
- Remove the drip tray from the machine and empty it.
- Place the drip tray back in the machine and the milk tube back in the drip tray.
- The coffee machine is now ready for use.
