From old to gold – my switch to the MacBook Air 15 inch
After 9 years of working on a faithful but now quite slow Windows laptop, I decided to take the plunge: a brand new MacBook Air 15 inch. What a transition! At first, everything feels strange. The controls are different, the shortcuts don't do what you're used to, and you think for a moment: what have I gotten myself into? The first few hours I mainly sat with raised eyebrows. Change is simply a resistance.
But then... then you enter the Apple ecosystem. And suddenly you notice how smoothly everything runs. Passwords are automatically filled in, editing photos is quick and intuitive, backups are arranged almost effortlessly. No fan in the laptop that is howling, and yet it stays cool. Illuminated keys make typing in the dark a pleasure. And that you can set the battery to charge no further than 70% to extend its lifespan? Brilliant.
The screen is beautiful – bright, sharp, a real pleasure to look at. The speakers sound surprisingly good for such a thin laptop. And then the integration with my iPad as a second screen: no hassle, just work.
Where I sometimes had to mess around with installing programs on Windows, it is really simple on the Mac: do you want a program? Then there is just an app. Click on download and done. No searching, no mess.
Yes, it is a considerable amount. But I already know: I am going to enjoy this a lot. No more annoyances. Everything is right.
My advice: do it
