Bought the Kidizoom for my son and he is basically happy with it. But picture and sound quality is really very bad. So bad that I don't think you can find a device where the quality is worse.
He put it on a radio controlled car, on his bike, walks with it and uses it in the pool. He is very easy to handle from the start. That's an advantage, which I don't know if other action cams are just as easy for kids.
However, children move a lot with the camera. Moving the camera horizontally from point A to point B slower than you would think. The Kidizoom can't handle that, because bad quality, blur, etc. make it impossible to follow what happens. There's simply no chasing whether he's using the camera upside down or not unless he's holding the camera steady for an extended period of time. On the bike the image is fairly stable, but it seems as if the sound is being passed through a gravel box, it is that bad.
The games are not interesting for the children. The overlay effects (cinema curtains or the nose of a dog on your face) are of such poor quality that it is not fun to use.
The conclusion is very simple, for this money you can also get a camera that can handle much higher resolution (1920x1080) or even 4K. That is highly recommended!
