The Synology DS218play is an NAS with room for 2 hard drives, designed for film fanatics. Thanks to the 1.4GHz Quad-Core processor and 1GB RAM, you can stream and transcode live 4K video files to your smart TV or console. If you install the Synology app, you can also play media on your smartphone and tablet. You can even send music from your NAS to speakers that support Google Cast. "Best product I have purchased this year"

Robert Suarez | 20 October 2019 | In the version: NAS with no hard drives

  • Pros:
    Cost effective
  • Pros:
    Great software and storage capacity
  • Pros:
    Like look and quiet function
  • Con:
Not as easy to install drives as the + version.

I compared multiple reviews and products and this was the best product for the cost by far. Spending more money for a higher Ram chip has no impact on my use of a NAS unless I was using more of the multimedia apps. I only need a mass storage device that is on my home wifi network.

  • Pros:
    Easily access files remotely
  • Pros:
    Not very loud
  • Con:
    Everything is plastic

The ds218play is an easy to setup NAS. The UI is easy and the number of packages present are also nice.
