According to our stand mixer expert
Thanks to the powerful 1200W capacity, you can knead heavy dough, like bread or pizza dough.
With the extra accessories, you can also make smoothies, juices, and minced meat.
You can easily grab the mixing bowl, thanks to the handles.
You need an extra measuring cup to measure liquids, because the mixing bowl doesn't have volume markings.
You get a real all-rounder with the Kenwood Chef Elite KVC5401S, thanks to the extra accessories and high power. With the extra accessories, you can also mix juices, grate and chop ingredients, and even make your own minced meat. Thanks to the extra mixing bowl, you can easily make multiple dishes at a time. Make batter for a cake in one while making buttercream in the other, for example. The 1200W power ensures that you can use the stand mixer for a long time without the motor overheating. In addition, it's powerful enough for mixing heavy dough and cutting hard ingredients.
I've only had this for a few days. Unpacking the box reminded me of a Russian doll. Assembling was easy with the exception of the splash guard. In the past few days I have tried many recipes of bread, pie, filling, vegetable dishes and smoothies. It amazes me how fast it can work.
I've used the kneader for bread making, the mixer for pie dough, pumpkin pie filling, and turkey stuffing. I've also used the food processor to chop onions, carrots, and celery, and the blender to make smoothies. I need more practice with the kneading tools, but the bread got a fine texture, albeit a bit compact - more likely my lack of bread making skill.
The blender attachment turns out to be very powerful compared to my Bosch blender. It really surprised me and made short work of breaking down the frozen fruit and ice cubes into a smoothie. It was much faster than the Bosch.
The food processor managed to chop the vegetables quickly and easily without all the hassle other food processors have given me with bits getting stuck.
The real workhorse for me has been the mixer. It made the pie dough so easy. Adding water during mixing was easy to control. The dough turned out perfect.
When mixing the stuffing for the turkey, I wished for the larger Chef Elite XL, but I was able to get enough stuffing for a 5kg turkey in the one mixing bowl…just.
Clean up was pretty easy. I really like the feeling of the unity. It feels solid and well built. The magnetic covers for the attachment points is a nice touch, especially with wet / slippery hands. I appreciate some of the little touches like the removable rubber base under the mixing bowl.
Looking forward to trying the meat grinder/sausage maker the next time I make sausage.

Ideal for making biscuit batter (my new hobby). The blender, food processor, grater attachment and meat grinder mean that I only have to use one appliance for multiple applications. And the second mixing bowl is a plus :-)
