Google Nest Thermostat Black

Nice thermostat. Turning the ring feels very solid. The screen is beautifully bright and clear. The app is also very intuitive, you are used to that. I hung the thermostat on a standard wall socket in the wall where the wires from the boiler come out. The Nest is the same size as a wall socket, so it just doesn't close nicely. Your only option if you don't want to look at the crumbling edges of the stucco; use the supplied back plate. This is in turn so insignificant that the minimalist design of the Nest is not done enough. The white plastic looks cheap. The thermostat is connected to my Nefit Topline CV through an Opentherm converter. The heating functions work well. The hot water supply is minimal. With my old thermostat (Moduline 300) I could set when the hot water supply had to be turned on or off. For example, there is no need to keep hot water at the right temperature at night, which does not benefit gas consumption. I can only set the hot water temperature on the Nest, no further settings are possible. I also miss other information that the Nest could have extracted from the Opentherm data; supply temperature, return temperature, pressure in the central heating boiler, etc., all not visible while this could be read on cheaper thermostats (Lyric T6 for example). Also, since last year no information can be read by Domoticz, support for Apple HomeKit is not available. The temperature deviates slightly upwards, I understand that this is due to charging the thermostat, this should decrease in the coming days. For the money you have to pay for a Nest thermostat, I find the functionalities disappointing in my situation. It is now a very expensive clock thermostat that I can switch on/off remotely. I'm sending the Nest back and going to try a Tado anyway; it can read the Nefit protocol without converters or Heatlinks, etc. It's a shame, because I think the Nest is one of the most beautiful thermostats on the wall.

I think it's a nice device. Works well. But recently exchanged because the device no longer 'saw' Wifi after 3 months. The wireless heat link also stopped working. Problems are more common. In the series of 6 thermostats that I have ever purchased, 2 broke over time. By the way, great service from CoolBlue and quickly exchanged.

Actually there is nothing wrong with this thermostat, but it took a lot of time to find a company that would connect it to my old AWB boiler for me. It also appears that many companies have no experience with the Nest, but Google can't do anything about that. Installation may be just a bit too much for the common man, but the average heating engineer also has difficulty with it, as it turns out. Hence my minus for the installation! Setting the thermostat and bringing it online in your network is doable for the average smartphone user. Simply read on the display what to do. The thermostat automatically updates its software when it goes online. The thermostat is very well built and the software is also very well thought out. It also works nicely with other Nest gadgets such as the smoke detector and Indoor cam. The manual could have been better with, among other things, an explanation of how to open the heat link and that you should first charge the thermostat via the supplied USB cable before mounting. The price is happy again !!
