According to our External SSD expert
Thanks to the usb 3.1 generation 2 connection, you can transfer up to 2 times faster data than USB 3.0 at 10 Gbps.
This external SSD is shock resistant to a fall of 2 meters.
The hardware encryption with password protection protects your drive against data theft.
In order to use the drive with macOS, you'll have to format it first.
The WD My Passport SSD 2TB is a compact external SSD for demanding users. The disk namely has a high transfer rate of 540MB / s, so a HD movie of 2GB transfer takes only 4 seconds. The ssd is shock resistant to a fall of 2 meters, so once it falls off your desktop, your files will remain undamaged. The 256-bit AES hardware encryption encrypts your films, photos and office documents so that hackers and viruses do not penetrate. Above you set a password with the WD Security software: this way only you have access to your data. And thanks to the low weight of 125 grams and the size of a pack of chewing gum, you can also use the disc on the go.
I have the SSD as iMAC Time Machine, previous HDD was fine but started to bother me with the sound. SSD is a breath of fresh air. Can't say anything about reliability at the moment, only had it 1 week.
