Peak Design Capture Camera Clip v3 Silver

This product is a very nice and practical way to attach any camera to anything shaped like a band. For example your belt, a buckle, the shoulder strap of your backpack, a hip belt/bag, etc. The Capture Clip is very easy to install on this and stays in place well. Not only does the camera stay nice and tight along the Capture Clip, but the Clip itself also stays in place both horizontally and vertically where you attach it.

PROS:

• Very fast camera in/out: you attach the quick-release plate to the bottom of your camera with the standard 1/4 screw. You can then slide this on the Capture Clip in 4 directions, but always from the same direction on the Capture Clip. This allows the lens of your camera to point in 4 directions, for example downwards when it is hanging from your belt. You clearly notice when it clicks into place and it stays neatly in place. With 1 press of the button you can slide it out again if you want to take a photo again.

• Very light and compact: fits in your pocket when not in use. Or maybe even have it hanging from your camera.

• Easy to attach to buckle/strap: as described above, you can attach it to many things. Even if the belt is thicker than the space between the screws, as many belts are made of fabric and can therefore be pushed in slightly. The tire never touches the screws, there is protection in between to prevent your tire from wearing out.

• Also suitable for wider buckles/straps: see explanation above.

CONS:

• The (in my case) silver coating on the device scratches very quickly. When I just received it, I tested it in a number of ways to see if it would work for me. The conclusion was yes, but unfortunately I already saw the first scratches on the Capture Clip. Both where you slide the quick release plate, and at the holes for the screws. See picture. This photo was taken immediately after testing the product for a relatively short time after it was delivered.

• High price: to be honest, it is a relatively simple mechanism with a actually quite high price. But very handy!

GOOD TO KNOW:

The Capture Clip can be properly attached to slanting shoulder straps (eg of so-called "Sling" backpacks or "postman" shoulder bags), but the position of the camera is not optimal. I'd rather have it on my belt.

As you can see in the picture, it also fits on my belt which is almost as wide as the belt loops on my jeans. There is even a little margin left.

With a backpack, the shoulder straps are usually thicker at the top (towards the bag, on your shoulder) than at your chest. If you're concerned that your shoulder straps are too wide, take a good look by putting it on to see what height you think the Clip should be. The straps of my backpack are already considerably thinner at the chest.
