TL;DR at the bottom.
Storyline is short and somewhat vague at times. The bad guys are disappointing and the Elite 4 is missing. On the other hand, the Pokémon league feels like you used to (or now) see it on TV, which is nicer in my personal opinion. Although there is nothing wrong with adding an Elite 4 in post-game.
Wild Area is refreshing to be able to catch Pokémon from older generations, while the 'normal' routes often contain new Pokémon. However, for the best experience, you should put the national Pokédex in here, and not 'just' 400 and what.
Graphics are - compared to previous games - often identical, but on the Switch it is slightly different than on the 3DS. 1080p, especially on TV, is slightly different from such a small screen. There is always room for improvement, but it is a good step.
Furthermore, the online 'functions' are limited, and with that also getting your Pokédex completely, by removing the GTS, with which you could specifically exchange a Pokémon for one you wanted.
Also, the story is very cut scene driven, and just too short for some, especially if you're rushing through it. I was done after 25-26 hours, and had 'only' 70 Pokédex entries. So I could have taken longer to complete the Pokémon League, but also (much) shorter.
The lack of Post-game may be a stumbling block for many, but as usual you can just play the Battle Tower/Tree etc., find shiny Pokémon, and create and use competitive teams. This is up to you as a player.
TL;DR: Good game, but it depends on the player's wishes, as it may not be for everyone. Definitely suitable for children.
