Smart functions unreliable due to server problems

Connection to server often drops

This smart thermostat was purchased primarily to operate it remotely via the iPhone, due to irregular schedules. That works reasonably well, although there are some teething problems in the iOS app. The biggest problem is that all traffic between the app and the thermostat goes through Honeywell's servers. If somewhere in that chain 1 thing goes wrong, you have no connection and you can no longer operate the thermostat via your phone. Not even if you are at home on the same WiFi as the thermostat. Those connection problems don't resolve themselves until you unplug the thermostat and plug it back in. Very handy when you are not at home. Honeywell's Support department is not cooperating either. The Dutch department is only a conduit to the team in the US, so there is about a week of response time in between. It all seems very clunky.
