it really sounds like a power tool
I got this for my boyfriend. I have a Philips Sonicare one, I like it, but he prefered the rotating motion of the brush, hence i went for Oral B.
There were many Oral B to choose from. I wanted him to have something smart and with several functions. I compared so many and came to a conclusion that this would be the best one.
Since it is in higher price range, I expected sleek design and nice experience. I was disappointed in the aesthetics department, unfortunately. (I hadn't checked it in the brick and mortar store before). When we unpacked it, I even thought - isn't this a knock off? No, it isn't. It is not hideos, but if pretty design is important for you, please make sure that you know what you are getting. My Philips in comparison looks so elegant; also the charging case of Philips looks prettier.
We turned it on and - another disappointment for me. The thing is NOISY. It honestly sounds like a power drill or an electric saw.
But to come to the pluses: the boyfriend likes it; he doesn't mind the sound, doesn't care about the design and he is very happy with its cleaning results and the rotating brush heads. The brushes for his are cheaper than for mine. He also likes the choices of cleaning programs.
One warning regarding the smart function - the app. We both have an app, (I love this digital world of today, i couldn't help myself). I used mine approx. 3 times. My boyfriend used his once. Even thought i thought i would love it, i see that i honestly don't need and app to tell me that now, i need to brush the right side, then the middle, then the left and repeat. I learned that as a kid and still remember :D So, unless the app becomes much more sophisticated and gives you more advice and personalised guidance in the future, i think it's quite useless.
