According to our camera lens expert
Thanks to the large aperture, your subject stands out from the background.
The silent focusing motor ensures that your subject isn't startled.
Not suitable for Sony system cameras
The Sony 50mm f/1.8 SAM DT is a light-sensitive prime lens for use on Sony cameras with an APS-C sensor. This lens has a crop factor of 1.5 and an effective focal length of 35mm. This makes it an ideal lens for landscapes and architectural photography. Thanks to the maximum aperture of f/1.8, your subject stands out from the background and you can create photos with high depth of field. Animals and people can be photographed undisturbed. Thanks to the silent focusing motor, they're not startled when you focus.
I liked this lens not only before I bought it because of its competitive price, but also after the purchase it still appeals to me very much! Perfect bright portrait lens for all circumstances. Beautiful colors, depth of field,...Simply very strong for that price range!!!

I recently acquired the DT 50mm f1.8 lens from Sony that I use for my Sony alfa 350 camera. I use this lens in addition to my wide-angle zoom and telephoto zoom. You can use it very well as a standard lens, although the 50 mm looks more like a 75 mm lens for 36 mm 35mm. The DT 50 mm is excellent as a lens for portrait photography. With the aperture at f1.8 you can take beautiful photos where the subject is very sharp against a blurred background. Another big advantage of this lens is its enormous brightness, which no zoom can compete with. You can take beautiful pictures in museums and churches without using a flash. The Sony DT 50 mm offers excellent quality for little money for taking beautiful photos even in low-light conditions. In short, an excellent price-quality ratio.

I bought this lens to use in addition to the 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens I have. I use this lens in combination with a Sony A77. The camera is mainly used by me to photograph cars, but sometimes also for other objects such as portraits. I bought the lens at coolblue because of the good service and fast delivery. The price was also very attractive. As stated when ordering, I had the lens at home the next day. The packaging it comes in is very small. Manuals in several languages are included. Lens caps for the front and back are of course also included.
As soon as the lens was out of the package, I immediately started using it. It works very easily and focusing is fast! An advantage for me is that the front of the lens does not rotate when focusing. That is very useful if you use a polarizing filter like me. The materials used feel cheap because it is all plastic. But luckily it is solid. The F value is very low (that's why I chose this lens). That means that the object you are focusing on is really sharp and the backgrounds are blurred. That's good for portrait photography. But it is also very well suited to photograph other things! Make sure to use a tripod!!
The low F value is also very useful when shooting in dark rooms. This makes the shutter speed faster. It is a pity that in the dark environment the focusing is not always 100% correct. Sometimes he is even completely wrong! Fortunately, that almost never happens.
Conclusion: It is a cheap but very good lens. He almost always does what you expect. And it is easy to carry in your bag/camera bag due to its light weight and compact design.
