QNAP TS-473A-8G

It's nice, quiet and handy, but make sure you first enable the advanced folder rights during the installation, afterwards things can go wrong with the rights for your users. ok had to reset and start over

My old Qnap suddenly broke down after 7 years of loyal service. Fortunately, I was able to order it quickly and it was delivered quickly. Thanks to a tip from a review on this site, I was able to quickly install this NAS. So I didn't have a backup. So it was exciting to see whether the hard drives of the old NAS would work. That was no problem. Install the app and go with that banana. Be careful not to format the HDs! The slots are made of plastic. I'm not a fan of that. I could not lock the 4th lock. This NAS makes a little more noise than my old one, but that doesn't bother me.

The TS473A isn't cheap (over €800), but I'm quite happy with this NAS.

The CPU and 8GB of RAM ensure this NAS isn't cramped for digital storage.

The QTS5.x software works perfectly.

The plastic brackets are fragile, but so are your HDDs, and how often do you have to (re)assemble them? And there are various expansion options for the internal hardware, the HDDs, and the storage modules.

What was important to me... this NAS has a whisper-quiet fan, so you can easily use it indoors.

And yes, the QTS storage isn't perfect, but neither is the Synology storage.

And my preferred server (OES/Netware from Novell) no longer exists.

And regarding TrueNAS, I don't have enough knowledge/experience. All in all: It's worth the money, and I would buy it again today.
