Description
Store all your files and create a powerful server for the office with the Synology DS423+. This Synology NAS has space for 4 hard drives, giving you a total storage capacity of 72TB. You can also insert 2 M.2 SSDs for extra fast cache memory, which allows you to access frequently used files quickly. This is useful when you have a lot of people working on the NAS at the same time, so you get on with your work without slowdowns. With the combination of 2GB of RAM and the Intel J4125 Quad-Core processor, you can work with over 10 people on the server of this NAS at the same time. Tasks and commands are processed quickly, making it easy to keep working. Want an extra powerful internet connection? No problem. With 2 Ethernet ports, the DS423+ offers extra security when one of your ports fails. As with all Synology NAS models, the DS423+ uses Synology Drive Server and allows you to edit the NAS storage space from any connected device. Quick and easy migration from my DS214play to the DS423+. Simply place the 2 hard drives from my old NAS in the same order in the new NAS. The DS423+ makes a little more noise than my previous NAS, but also keeps the drives a little cooler. I mainly use my NAS as a file server, surveillance station and storage for photos and home videos. Playing the home videos in DS Video or Plex (various formats, including 4K60 HDR from my iphone13) requires little effort from the system. Surveillance station with 4 cameras and DSM 7.x quickly consumed 50% of the basic internal memory continuously, so I immediately expanded it from 2GB to 6GB (with Synology module).
As a file server, the speed has improved over my previous NAS, but not significantly. As a media player, the difference is of course big.

This is my second Synolgoy NAS and I really like it overall. Clear software that gives a lot of possibilities. However, this NAS contains two fans that make a lot of noise, even on the lowest setting. I have tried to replace the fans with quieter ones, but there are some weird edges around the fans, so I think only original fans will fit. Pity.

Because my DS415+ broke down (later it turned out to be easy to repair with a 100 ohm resistor) I bought the DS423+. To my great surprise, commissioning meant no more than transferring drives from the 415+ to the 423+. After the first start, the settings were completed and all my files were available again. Perfect!
