I bought the Zumo XT2 as an upgrade to the Zumo 590. I chose the XT2 over the slightly older XT because the screen is even brighter than the XT's screen. Route planning is also new on the XT2. This can be done on the device itself or via the new 'Tread' app. The routes are copied online from the Tread app to the XT2 and vice versa. For those who want to plan routes via the PC, there is a website explore.garmin.com. I had to learn the latter through youtube videos. This route planning is still a bit disappointing to me at the moment. Undoubtedly, Garmin will still tinker with this. After some experimentation I use the free version of the Kurviger app, after which I export the track as a gpx file and then import it into the Tread app. The device itself is solidly built, has a lot of internal memory and all map updates are included in the purchase. If desired, you can even place the maps of other parts of the world on your device. This is also included in the lifetime maps. The working time on battery - apart from the motor - is considerable, approximately 4 hours. I wonder how long the battery will last.
