A beautiful record player that now plays via Bluetooth with the JBL Charge 4. Both Bluetooth version 4.2 so that works fine. The device works ok and fortunately can be adjusted like an 'old-fashioned' record player, so with needle power and anti-skating. If you ever want to replace the element, you can reset the needle force. I wouldn't bother with that myself, I think the element gets the best out of this player. A better element will not add much and is a waste of money. The adjustment was so easy, but the rule of thumb that the anti-skating must be equal to the needle force does not apply to this player, at 2.5 the arm will 'hang' halfway the plate. The skating is now at 0 which solves this problem. But then the anti-skating also has little to add. The arm has quite a lot of play, both horizontally and vertically on the main bearing. We have already returned an earlier copy on this. This play must be 'by design', but a really good arm is really without any play. You shouldn't be able to move it and that is certainly possible with this arm. That is immediately the bridge to the sound quality (which we have only assessed via Bluetooth and the JBL Charge 4). Bij deze platenspeler leek het alsof er nooit een constante RPM van 33⅓ werd behaald, maar een schommeling tussen 33 en 34 RPM. Dit betekent dat er een soort 'warp' in de muziek zit. En hoe goed de kwaliteit dan ook moge zijn, als het nummer niet klopt, dan valt er wat mij betreft niet naar te luisteren. Alle voorgaande gebreken waren voor mij geen reden om de platenspeler terug te sturen. Daarvoor is hij simpelweg te mooi! Helaas gooit de warp flink roet in het eten. Ik moet er wel bij zeggen dat ik een absoluut gehoor heb én een flinke audiofiel ben, waardoor ik dit soort distorties zeker sneller oppik dan de gemiddelde luisteraar. Dus bepaal voor jezelf hoe erg je dit vindt.
--- Eindoordeel De prijs-kwaliteitverhouding is wat moeilijk te bepalen. Het ligt er volledig aan wat je zoekt in je (eerste?) platenspeler. Denk je niet teveel last te hebben van kleine distorties? En ben je op zoek naar een prachtige aanwinst voor je inboedel waarmee je toch echt een leuk geluid uit je plaatjes kan halen? Dan is dit een perfect goede optie. Echter, als audiofiel zeg ik, besteed €50 meer en ga voor een hele goede mid-range platenspeler (bij mij is de Audio Technica LP120 de meer dan waardige vervanger van de Stir It Up geworden). Want als je op zoek bent naar een perfect betrouwbare weergave en een goed gemonteerde platenspeler, dan vind je die hier niet.
