Inventum AKB6015ZWA

sleek design, good suction

To truly give a second-hand product a second chance, after some deliberation, I decided to go for this Inventum extractor hood. The product was reasonably discounted and sold as undamaged, but that turned out to be a lie. Upon receiving the shipment, it was immediately clear that the extractor hood had not been packed securely enough to survive transport.

Upon opening it, it became immediately apparent that there were several scratches and dents in the surface. To top it all off, the metal casing of the extractor hood also turned out to be severely bent. In my opinion, this has nothing to do with a possible previous installation, but purely with the build quality that Inventum employs for this product. Details, manufacturing, and finish matter, but if you subordinate these to sales volumes, a product quickly sustains damage or even risks arise (as an example, I am thinking of a certain type of video card with some yay adapters). It is therefore a shame to discover that a brand has so little passion for its product range, leaving you with the feeling of being saddled with a bad purchase from the category of mediocre-working-consumer-electronics-but-we-don't-care-because-we-already-have-your-money-anyway.

Doubting whether I still wanted to install this device myself, I was also confronted with the absence of an installation manual (and no, that poor 1930 print quality in the booklet didn't help). Mounting a range hood isn't rocket science, but a template to mark out a few drill holes on the wall would have been handy. Furthermore, I didn't find a list of 'items in this box' to check if the shipment was complete at all. As can be seen in the photo, everything was just a bit jumbled together and looked more like a grab bag than a properly packaged kitchen product that costs you a pretty penny.

Fortunately, customer service did immediately provide me with 3 options; some extra compensation as reimbursement for the unmentioned damage at the time of ordering, paying a small additional amount to receive a new unit, or the entire unit returned to the warehouse. In my case, I went for the latter option because I had already found another unit elsewhere that was nicer, quieter, energy-efficient, and cheaper. So, definitely no more Inventum products for me.

Looking back, this range hood has given me an incredible headache. The manual is far from clear, and the quality of the product itself is truly terrible in some areas. The light module was flickering terribly after two weeks, and it doesn't fit properly in the hood; every little bump makes it fall out (see photo). It seems like the dimensions weren't adjusted correctly for the hood.

Furthermore, the carbon filters don't fit properly. It works with a click system, but once you click them in on one side, they pop out on the other. So you have to set them exactly halfway in the middle and hope they don't pop out.

I need it for recirculation, but I only discovered during installation that you need a separate part for this. I have to order that separately, and the quality of that part is also very, very poor.

The only bright spot in this story is that Coolblue was very helpful during this process, and the service staff were also very polite and patient. Really great service, but I hope I never have to experience this again.
