The JBL Quantum 950 Wireless White is a great gaming headset that fits well and has clear sound. I use the headset wirelessly on my PlayStation and PC. It has a beautiful design, the setup is smooth, and the headset has useful features. The microphone is a bit in the way, but there's a simple solution.
First Impression
When I open the headset box, I see the headset and the base station. Inside the box under the base station are a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to 3.5mm cable, a calibration wire for the microphone, the microphone, two batteries, and a storage bag. Finally, I see the quick start guide, which I immediately grab.
Easy Connection
Before I use the headset, I insert a battery into the earcup of the headset. This allows me to use the headset wirelessly. I use the JBL Quantum Engine software to calibrate the microphone so it works at its best. This isn't strictly necessary, but I do recommend it. I connect the base station with the USB-C cable. I plug the cable into my PlayStation and turn on the headset. It connects to the base station immediately. Everything is very easy.
Handy accessories
The base station has two handy functions. I adjust the headset's volume or charge the second battery in the back. I click the battery smoothly into the slot, and it charges immediately. This way, I never run out of battery in my headset. I play on the couch in front of my TV, so I can't reach the base station. That's why it's not so useful. The base station is handy if you're at your desk, for example, and can easily reach it.
Clear microphone and clear audio
The sound of the gaming headset is very good. I tested the headset with Battlefield 6 and Ghost of Yotei. The sound direction is very precise. So I can hear exactly where enemies are coming from. The microphone is also clear. It picks up my voice well, and I can be heard clearly in the PlayStation party. The microphone isn't flexible, but it is removable. This makes it sturdy, but a little less flexible. The headset's noise canceling is also nice. This allows me to focus on the game without being distracted.
Comfortable during long gaming sessions
Finally, the headset fits comfortably on my head. The headband is the same as on other JBL models. Thanks to the comfortable headband and soft, thick ear cushions, the headset is comfortable even during long gaming sessions. However, the headset does get a little warm after a while.
