Philips Skylight Daylight Lamp Medium

This is truly a top-notch lamp if you want the feeling of looking up outside. We had an extension built and initially wanted to have a skylight installed in it. Ultimately, we decided to add an extra floor on top of the current one in the future, so that is not possible.

A while later, we came across the Philips Skylight. And this came very close to exactly what we wanted. That is why we ordered it. The installation is very manageable, provided you do it with at least two people. I would absolutely advise against doing it alone.

After the installation, it is pure enjoyment. The lamp is easy and clear to operate with the control panel, and the colors it emits are very natural. Personally, I think the border around the "blue dome" is very nicely done. It also blends very beautifully into the center section. Additionally, the blue section, which is meant to represent the outside sky, changes color beautifully with the time of day. For example, if it is dark outside, the lamp displays the same "dark" color. That makes it feel like you are really looking outside. And that was our intention with this as well. I am so satisfied with it that I ordered another one last week.

Philips has a unique product on its hands with this lamp. When the lamp was delivered, I was briefly startled by the size of the packaging protecting it during transport. It clearly shows the contents and the purpose.

Once the packaging is opened, you will find the lamp and accessories inside. The lamp is a chic white frame containing the ‘window’.

A remote control is included, which makes it possible to dim the lamp, for example.

Assembly requires a bit of attention. You attach the frame first and then the lamp. So you don't have to lift the lamp and everything into the air.

To my great surprise, the lamp really looks like a skylight!

What I do miss is Philips Hue integration. Currently, you need a separate remote control and cannot operate it with your smartphone.

Our bathroom has no windows, and because of that, it always felt like a dark space you wanted to get out of quickly. Especially in the winter, I noticed that I missed the daylight while putting on my makeup or getting ready for work in the morning. But actually, in the summer too. We already had a good ceiling light with two powerful LED bulbs, so to be honest, I thought there wasn't much more to gain. That turned out to be a miscalculation. Since we installed the Philips Skylight, the bathroom looks almost different, and it feels different to be in there too. We have the medium version in a bathroom measuring 2.5 by 3 meters, and that is more than enough. What stands out is the enormous amount of light, but even more importantly: the light feels much more natural. It is hard to explain until you see it for yourself. The space looks lighter, fresher, and less enclosed. It is also a really beautiful lamp to look at. Because of the frame, it really looks like there is a skylight in the ceiling. In a room without daylight, that adds a surprising amount of atmosphere. Where I used to mainly just have sufficient light, it now feels as if there is actual daylight present. However, there is a caveat. I would have preferred the lamp to simply work via the existing light switch and dimmer on the wall. Now you are dependent on a remote control, and that feels less practical. It is also not very convenient for the children. Despite this point, I am very happy with this new addition!
