I now have this GT-AX11000 as AiMesh router with my previous router (RT-AC5300) as AiMesh node. I use an Ethernet connection for the backhaul. I must say pretty fast and a good range together. In addition, all devices (except an old iPad) switch neatly to the strongest and/or fastest channel. With the standard settings of the AX11000 (smart connect rules) this works fine and in most cases without you noticing. The WiFi connection is therefore quite stable. I don't have any AX clients yet so I haven't been able to test that yet.

What was striking is that despite the fact that the backhaul runs via the Ethernet cable, one 5GHz band is sacrificed to also serve as backhaul. That was a setback. I would have preferred that if the cable connection fails, that an attack would only be made on the WiFi capacity. Furthermore, the guest networks are not pushed through on the node.
