Pros and cons

According to our monitor expert
  • With a super ultrawide monitor, you have 1.5 times the screen space of a 'regular' monitor.
  • This monitor has High Dynamic Range (HDR), which provides a broader color representation and higher contrasts.
  • Works well with the MacBook (12 inches) because of the USB-C connection.
  • Note: this monitor is 1.2 meters wide and 38cm deep, so you'll need plenty of space on your desk.

Description

The LG 49WL95C is a 49-inch super ultrawide monitor on which you have no lack of space. This screen is the same size and just as clear as 2 27-inch Quad HD monitors set side by side. This way you can easily work in multiple windows next to each other, see the entire timeline of a movie you're editing, or have extra space for editing tools. Because the screen is slightly curved, you can clearly see colors in every corner of the image. And all of that in the most lifelike display, thanks to the sRGB color range of 99% and HDR10 support. Separate speakers are no longer necessary, because the 49WL95C is equipped with 2 10-watt speakers with Rich Bass for extra bass.

    Serious wide screen

    Robert | 23 January 2020 | In the version: LG 34WK95U

    • Pros:
      Lots of screen space
    • Pros:
      Enough connections to external devices

Love the huge screen surface. NIcely edit 2 documents side by side. Making documentation on one part of the screen and typing code on the other side of the screen.

Looks Big, but you get used extremely fast. Go for it.

    • Pros:
      Lots of space
    • Pros:
PiP is nice, even w/out the software
    • Pros:
Looks good, works fine for games (if you're not a pro)
    • Con:
      Only AMD FreeSync
    • Con:
Some games struggle or flat out don't support the resolution but they usually work fine in another resolution or similar.

Great display, I use it for work (and occasional gaming) with a Linux laptop (via HDMI) and a Macbook Pro (via USB-C). Works fine on both systems.
I hesitated for months before buying it, because I wasn't sure if it was going to be appropriate for the light gaming I do and well, using it with Linux and macOS, as things are usually "windows only", but barring the lack of the PiP software to share the keyboard/mouse/clipboard between connected systems, the display is fine. I have an NVIDIA 2070 RTX in my laptop and it drives this display with no problems whatsoever.

    A must have upgrade

    T. | 3 June 2021 | In the version: LG 49WL95C

    • Pros:
      Easy to setup
    • Pros:
      Amazing image quality
    • Pros:
      Adjustable in height
    • Pros:
      5120x1440 on MBP 15” 2017

This is an amazing screen! From the specs I knew that my MacBook Pro 15” from 2017 with Radeon 555 would support it but you never know and I can confirm that it works perfectly, although only via usb-c (included in the box). The screen has so much space that you can easily have 5 windows open next to each other. Ans it’s also adjustable to a good height so that you don’t need a separate arm.

The best 49' For Picture Quality
    • Pros:
      IPS
    • Pros:
      Auto Brightness
    • Pros:
      Thunderbolt 3 (Charges MacBook)
    • Pros:
One Cable for Display + Charging

I first purchased the Samsung CR9 but as an LG user myself (CX for TV), I was extremely disappointed by the picture quality. I immediately replaced it with the LG 49W and voila, back to the quality and sharp images!

My productivity went up high! I highly recommend it during these days where we work from home!
