If you want to use it as a tablet, you have to detach the entire iPad from the MK, after which you have 0 protection for your iPad. Because I know from experience that a large iPad falls more easily, I also wanted protection when I just use the iPad as a tablet (more than 50% of the use for me). A turn-off for me is that my Satechi USB-C hub no longer fits in the Thunderbolt port when the iPad is in this cover... The opening for the port in the cover is simply too narrow.
