I find the DJI Mini 3 to be an easy-to-use drone for beginners, with which I easily shoot cinematic videos. This lightweight drone weighs only 249 grams. That's nice, because I don't have to take a drone course. I register the drone, charge it and go straight away. The drone never loses connection with the controller during flight, even when I fly between trees. I do miss the obstacle detection on the sides, so I have to pay close attention to where I fly.
Simple operation for beginners
Although I don't often fly drones, I control the DJI Mini 3 without difficulty. I make smooth and quiet movements and it brakes immediately when I let go of my stick. I think that's important, because the DJI Mini 3 has no obstacle detection on the sides or front. It therefore does not prevent collisions with trees or other objects. I keep a close eye on this myself. As a result, I find flying more difficult than with a drone that has obstacle detection. When I want to land, I press the Return to Home button. The drone flies back to me, after which I let it land. The sensors on the bottom do detect obstacles on the ground, so it won't land on top of my bag, for example.
Lightweight drone
A big advantage of the DJI Mini 3 is the low weight. As a result, I do not need a drone certificate and I can easily take the drone with me on the road. The Fly More Combo I'm testing has two extra batteries and a storage bag. That is useful when I take the drone with me, for example on vacation. It's nice to have two extra batteries, because I find that the battery of the drone is empty fairly quickly. Strong winds cause the battery to drain faster. The wind has little influence on the movements of the drone, despite being so light.
Image quality
I watch the images of the DJI Mini 3 on the screen of the Smart Controller. I film in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, which produces sharp and smooth images. The colors are lifelike and small details are clearly visible. The images are also stable, despite the strong wind. The image stabilization does its job well. I think the images are suitable for social media and even for professional videography.
