For the price and relative obscurity of this brand, I'm pleasantly surprised. This TCL (50 inch) looks nice and sleek in appearance, with minimal bezels around the screen. During installation you can choose whether you want to set it up as 'classic TV' or Google TV. I set it up as Google TV, because I no longer have regular TV and I use streaming services.
Google TV is very nice and works well on this TV, albeit a bit slow to start up at times. The processor in the TV isn't super fast, but it doesn't bother me in daily use.
Image quality is very good and useful options are built into Google TV to tailor the image and audio to your wishes.
Viewing angles of the TV are surprisingly good, sound quality of the speakers also in my living room. The thing can be loud enough and with the settings you can set enough bass or voice. Music also sounds good.
The remote control is plastic (so light, but also cheap) and the various TCL buttons next to the Prime and Netflix buttons are pretty ugly and pointless, but it works well.
During the initial setup, Google TV also automatically installed an operating system update. After finishing the update and finishing the initialization of Google TV it had some hiccups (apps that wouldn't install and images that wouldn't load), but a factory reset from the Google TV settings fixed everything (a known issue with Android or google tv updates). After that it took 5 minutes to install and everything ran like clockwork.
All in all, this is really a great 50-incher for this price. You can safely pay 200-300 euros more for a brand that is better known in Europe, but TCL makes a lot of TVs worldwide, so that's fine.
