PocketBook Verse Pro Blue

After a long time of hesitation, I bought it, I am so happy with it! Finally no more lugging around books, finally relaxed reading in bed. Purchase of the year! The e-reader works fantastic and installing ebooks is easy. Every reader should have this device next to it. Bring on all those books!

My wife wanted her PocketBook Touch HD3 back, so she started looking for her own compact e-reader. After comparing various popular e-readers, I ended up with PocketBook Verse Pro. As is often the case, the difference is in the details. Easily add e-books and you are not tied to a store. Nice compact and sturdy design with physical buttons so you don't have to touch the screen with your greasy (sunscreen) fingers all the time.

Ebooks are perfectly adjustable after some experimenting with the settings. You can adjust the font size of PDFs and EPUBs as large as you like, without the text disappearing from the screen. Brightness and yellow nightlight: both independently adjustable and infinitely bright. Not too bright, even in the dark. Good ergonomics: flattened bottom corners fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. Audiobooks are difficult to load with the Mac mini. The PC indicates they're installed. Unplug and watch: no books, or only a few. Tried everything according to the manual's instructions. It doesn't work. I don't want Bluetooth (which does work), but wired earbuds. I had to buy three adapters (USB-C to 3.5mm jack) before it worked. I drove over 100 km back and forth to a Coolblue store. I spent €47 on adapters and went home with a used one from the store, which finally worked. Pocketbook's customer service is polite and quick, but only with copy-and-paste work that confirms everything you'd already figured out yourself in frustration. Moreover, they mention things and folders on your device that don't exist. Furthermore, manual updates don't work, which is precisely what I want. I don't want the company spying on me via Wi-Fi, which, of course, has become mandatory. Here you go, friendly reading buddies: a wonderful reader, except for the audio.
