The LG OLED C5 65-inch TV truly surprised me. From its easy installation to its solid build quality, everything feels solid and well-thought-out. The sturdy stand and sleek design make it a great addition to my living room.
In terms of ease of use, this TV is a model of simplicity. The menus are clear and responsive. The built-in apps work perfectly and deliver surprisingly high image quality. However, I often watch on my HTPC, where I have the most freedom to adjust settings to my liking. I also found that the HTPC gets the most out of this screen, with that extra bit of detail and smoothness.
The image quality itself is truly impressive. Black levels are intense and deep, giving dark scenes more dimension. Brightness is perfectly adjusted: never overly bright, but just right to make details clearly visible. Colors are breathtakingly natural. They don't jump off the screen unnaturally, but rather look realistic, as if you're watching reality. What strikes me most is how smoothly motion is displayed. There's no jerkiness or unnatural transitions. This makes movies and TV shows look lifelike and immersive.
The sound is solid and has enough detail for everyday use. However, I sometimes miss the power and spaciousness of movies. A soundbar or home theater system would complete this for me.
The only point of concern is the reflection. During the day, especially in dark scenes, you see yourself or the room reflected. This can be distracting, although it won't bother everyone.
Despite that one drawback, this is a TV that immerses me in a realistic and immersive movie experience every time.
