Apple AirTag 2 (4-Pack)

To test the difference, I bought the Airtag 2 to compare it to the first generation Airtags. I was also curious if the speaker magnet could be removed as easily as with the first version. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Opening the Airtag 2 is more difficult, and it's easy to damage something, even if you do it very carefully. My advice is not to open the Airtag 2 yourself; just leave it as it is. It's a shame, though, that you can't mute the sound.

If someone steals my bag, the Airtag starts pinging to make it clear to the thief that they've stolen not only a bag, but also an Airtag. That's a shame. I understand the anti-stalking measures, but it's a shame that the 99% of people who use an Airtag normally to find lost and stolen items are affected by this.

The range of the 2 is said to be slightly greater than that of the 1. Indoors, I found the difference minimal, but next time I go on vacation, I'll pack two Airtags in my suitcase—an Airtag 1 and an Airtag 2—and then we'll see if we notice a difference.

For now, I think I'd rather buy a discounted Airtag 1 than an Airtag 2.
