The lime light on my DeLonghi Magnifica stays on
Why does the descaling light stay on?
If the descaling light of your Delonghi Magnifica remains on, the descaling procedure has not been completed properly. It may be that you've skipped a step, or that you haven't done it correctly. For example, it's possible that you have put too little water into the water reservoir during the descaling process.
How do I correct the problem?
To properly complete the descaling procedure of your Delonghi Magnifica, follow the steps below. After completing these steps, you'll enjoy a good cup of coffee again.
Fill the water tank up to level B
Step 1: Switch on the coffee machine by pressing the on button.
Step 2: Remove the filter from the water tank (if present).
Step 3: Fill the water tank with tap water, up to level B. This is indicated with a 'B' on the water tank. Put the water tank back in the machine.
Switch on the descaling
Step 4: Press the descaling button for 5 seconds until the descaling light stops flashing. The light is now on without blinking. This means that the coffee machine is in the descaling mode.
Step 5: Place a large jug or container under the steam pipe and under the coffee spout (from which the coffee normally flows).
Step 6: Open the steam knob all the way. You do this by turning the knob towards the "I" in one smooth motion. Water now flows from the machine. The coffee machine stops automatically when the water tank is completely empty. This takes around 30 minutes, including short intervals.
Step 7: Because the water tank slowly empties itself, the water tank light turns on. You don't have to do anything with this.
Step 8: Fully close the steam knob again. You can do this by turning the knob towards the "O" in one smooth motion.
Fill the water tank up to 'MAX'
Step 9: Fill the water tank with water again, but this time up to the "MAX" line. This is indicated at the top of the water tank. Put the water tank back in the machine.
Step 10: Open the steam knob all the way. You do this by turning the knob towards the "I" in one smooth motion.
Step 11: The water starts flowing again, this time without stops. The coffee machine stops automatically when the water tank is empty. After this, close the steam knob completely. You do this by turning the knob back to the "0".
Repeat steps 9 through 11 once more and you're done
Step 12: Repeat steps 9 to 11, exactly as described above. This way you, rinse the machine with water for the last time.
Step 13: The descaling light will now turn off, and the light of the water tank will turn on.
Step 14: Fill the water tank with water and replace the water filter if necessary. You can now make coffee again!
